Work Ethic is as important part of the job as ANYTHING

The usually-stressful headache of working with a construction company often comes from a lack of work ethic or the attitude that contractors have enough work, therefore we don't need to care about each individual client.

You deserve better than that for your investment and your time, love and energy you pour into your home.

That's why we created Remodel My Kitchen.

Riki and I had what we would describe as one of the most traumatic experiences of our life, getting our kitchen renovated after buying into a 6-floor walkup in Harlem New York City.

We watched the losers (who we paid our past 5 years savings to) spit into crevices of our rafters, utter racist curses, kick and swear their way through the job. Anything they whinged about doing, we just pulled up our bootstraps and did ourselves.

They jimmied the gas meter on with incorrect equipment which caused a barely noticeable gas leak.

They laid down "chicken wire" underneath the tiles and said when asked "oh that's all you need", to which I replied, "Um look I'm not a tiler, but physics says NO, that's false". Sure enough, 3 months after we kicked them off the job our tiles were cracked and the whole floor needed to be replaced.

Riki FELL. THROUGH. THE. FLOOR.

Which is about the time we realised they had faked their insurance certificate.

We cannot explain the trauma and horror we endured through this period of what was meant to be a joyous time in our lives.

3 years after we had to redo our floor, we now (mostly) love our kitchen and we promised ourselves (if we could) we'd try to make sure we could save other families and couples from a similar awful fate.

Remodel My Kitchens was born.

We find the best contractors around, make sure they're good humans first and foremost, make sure they are fully licensed and insured, then send them to you.
